Frankenstein's Monster

Frankenstein’s Monster

The fictional character was created by Mary Shelly and first appeared in the novel ‘Frankenstein’ in 1818. The creature is often referred to as Frankenstein, however in the novel it had no name, and his creator Victor Frankenstein would call it ‘creature’.
The creature was an 8ft tall beast, with yellow skin, black hair and black lips, and quoted from the novel it was ‘hideously ugly’.

The monsters only wish was to share its life with someone else of his kind, as it was rejected from everyone, even its creator Victor Frankenstein could not stand the thing he had created.
In the 1931 film the creature is unable to talk or communicate and is very juvenile. In the sequel to this film the creature learns how to talk, in the second sequel the creature is inarticulate and in the third sequel the creature has a brain transplant and picks up the voice and personality of the brain donor.
